I’ve spent the last 20 years photographing everyone else, I finally decided it was time to photograph my own family, starting with my mom.

I casually asked her if she would come model for me in the new studio and bring a few fun outfits. I don’t think she was expecting the full on experience, lol! I even suggested that maybe this could be the headshot she uses as her author bio on the book she working on! (You see, my mom has been called to ministry and there is much to be said through her, that is the path God set her on). Trouble was, she didn’t really have any updated professional portraits of herself, just selfies taken with her cell phone. It was time to change all of that!

She is beautiful. I bawled like a baby the first time I watched this video because it is so her. This is so my calling. This is what I am meant to do. Go figure that I’d find spiritual meaning behind my camera. It was God’s plan all along.

Being a Christian woman, I couldn’t think of a better song to use in her video; it suits her and it works with my new aim. I am constantly hearing women tell me that they’d love to do a session, but they’d like to lose a few pounds or they have nothing to wear. She tried to tell me the same things. Enough excuses, YOU are beautiful. There’s always a reason to put it off, but when you’re faced with a disaster, these are the images you’ll save from the fire….they’re your heirlooms.

Tomorrow is not promised and you’ll never look as young as you do now, besides today is part of your story too! It’s time to exist in pictures for our loved ones. I promise to make it an easy and enjoyable experience. You are beautiful!  🙂
